1 sheet measuring 19.5" x 13.5" of traditional Abruzzo print paper in warm grey. Each individual bird is about 1-1/4" tall x 1-1/2" wide. Acid free. Xylography printed (like letterpress) on 120 gsm high quality soft paper in Italy by Rossi.
Some sheets have text printed on the reverse describing the printing process and history, other sheets are plain on the reverse.
About Xylography: Designs are taken from popular historical motifs from the regions of Italy. Later used in inexpensive book editions , block print decorations (xylography) became popular in Europe from the 16th century onward to decorate upholstery and humble dwellings. The motifs, incised on wood, were initially imprinted by hand, later by a printing press. This collection of designs features Italian peasant art in several patterns, each one representing ancient motifs from different Italian regions.
